Sacha Michaud Reveals the Story of Glovo to UDG Students

On October 1, 2024, the University of Donja Gorica (UDG) hosted Sacha Michaud, co-founder of the globally recognized multi-category delivery platform, Glovo. Sacha Michaud, a British-Canadian serial entrepreneur and business leader based in Spain, delivered an inspiring lecture to around 200 UDG students, as well as the broader academic and professional community, about Glovo’s startup journey, e-commerce, challenges, and success in the digital economy.

Through a detailed overview of the key moments in the company’s development, Michaud explained how Glovo managed to stand out in a competitive market and become a well-known brand in many countries worldwide.

The lecture placed special focus on strategies for scaling a business, specifically how to successfully expand a startup internationally while remaining innovative and adaptable to changes in consumer habits and market conditions. Michaud also highlighted several key success factors, such as agility, adaptability, and a willingness to take risks.

Following the inspiring lecture, an interactive discussion with students ensued, focusing on starting and managing their own businesses. The questions were directed toward practical aspects of entrepreneurship, including advice on overcoming challenges, managing resources, and creating long-term strategies for sustainable growth and development. Michaud shared his experience, offering valuable insights and guidance to the students, while also expressing his belief that the next "Google" will come from Europe.

“Keep your head up, but your feet on the ground,” and “People often talk about success, but we learn more from mistakes and less successful ventures,” Michaud advised the students at the end of the lecture.

Sacha Michaud’s lecture marked yet another event organized as part of UDG’s ongoing efforts to provide students with opportunities to hear firsthand stories and advice from global leaders in entrepreneurship and innovation. This event further empowered students to think boldly and entrepreneurially, using Michaud’s success as an example of how dedication and vision can transform into global business success.

The University of Donja Gorica will continue to offer students opportunities to engage with leaders from various fields through guest lectures, aiming to inspire and equip them for future entrepreneurial challenges.
