UDG and Chinese University BUU: Mutual support in challenging times
Beijing Union University of Beijing and the University of Donja Gorica have had an intensive and continuous cooperation since 2017 and in the spirit of that good and fruitful cooperation; they have supported each other in these uncertain times. The secretary of Beijing Union University, Professor Han Xianzhou, has sent a letter of support to the Rector of UDG, Prof. Dr. Veselin Vukotic, and expressed his heartfelt and sincere thanks to the UDG institution for all the support and assistance UDG has repeatedly showed and provided to students, universities and institutions with whom it has intensively worked in China, at times when it was most needed. What was particularly encouraging was the video message from UDG students and associates to their Chinese friends, which was published with great attention on China Media Group portals as well as People's Daily. In the spirit of cooperation and mutual support, today, the University of Donja Gorica, received a certain amount of protective masks from Beijing Union University in China, as a sign of support to the UDG in preventing and protecting against the spread of the new COVID - 19 virus.
Beijing Union University of Beijing and the University of Donja Gorica established their cooperation in 2017. After 2017, they jointly implemented several activities, among which is the participation of BUU employees and students in the Milocer Development Forum, which focused on the topic: "Globalization and The Belt & Road initiative", attended by 60 professors and businessmen from China. Additionally, students of BUU University spent the winter semester at UDG attending the Vatel - International Hospitality and Management program, while on the other hand, about ten UDG students and associates had the opportunity to visit BUU in China. Also, as part of this collaboration, BUU professors and associates supported the realization of undergraduate academic Chinese Studies organized at UDG. In November 2019, the Agreement on the establishment of the Tourism Confucius Classroom at UDG was signed between the Confucius Institute Headquarters and UDG, as well as Chinese partner BUU and UDG, which happened during a visit by UDG's scientific research delegation to China and Thailand. UDG and Beijing Union University will continue to implement the approved joint project to open the Confucius' classroom at UDG as soon as the conditions allow it.
This collaboration is a testament to the spirit of solidarity and support that prevails among the academic sector.
