The International Conference "World Order Under Threat" at UDG

The University of Donja Gorica (UDG) hosted the international conference "World Order Under Threat," held on November 25–26, 2024. The conference was organized by UDG and the Boris Mints Institute (BMI) from Tel Aviv University. It brought together prominent experts from around the world to discuss key global challenges, including political, economic, and institutional transformations.

During the opening ceremony, the prestigious BMI Prize was awarded to Professor Beatriz Magaloni from Stanford University for her outstanding contributions to the study of authoritarian regimes and the erosion of democratic institutions. In her lecture, titled "The Rise of Authoritarianism," Professor Magaloni provided a compelling analysis of the growing threats posed by authoritarian regimes and their impact on global political stability.

On the second day of the conference, a keynote lecture was delivered by Václav Klaus, the second President of the Czech Republic, reflecting on the weaknesses and failures of national and international institutions and their effects on global stability.

The conference featured three panel discussions:

  • Globalization: Examining the successes and failures of globalization, including issues of migration, global supply chains, and economic resilience.
  • Strategies of War and Peace: Analyzing contemporary conflicts, the fragility of peace agreements, and the importance of international cooperation.
  • Crises in the Institutional Order: Addressing topics such as cybersecurity, economic systems, and governance, with a focus on reforms and strengthening institutional resilience.

UDG professors participated in the panel discussions and lectures, including Prof. Dr. Milica Vukotić, Prof. Dr. Igor Lukšić, Prof. Dr. Milorad Katnić, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikoleta Đukanović, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sandra Tinaj, and Dr. Ivan Jovetić.

The conference reaffirmed the strategic partnership between BMI and UDG, aimed at strengthening academic and institutional collaboration.
