On the initiative of students, UDG organized a charity event called “Bring a smile to a friend” within the Days of the University.   This charity initiative was special, different, because it was organized in order to help and collect funds for our colleague, Davor Vukovic, student of the Faculty of Sports Management. Davor took a step into the world of sport as a child, and today he is a member of the Judo club "Fighter". A series of victories and medals was abruptly interrupted in his sixteenth, when in the one of the tournaments in which he competed, he suffered injuries of two cervical vertebrae, which resulted in paralysis of extremities.   The central event of the Charity action was held today, November 17th, on the area in front of UDG. The students organized a rich entertainment program, which was opened by the songs of Mirjana Bozovic and Jovana Jokic, as well as by the bend of Jovana Cupic. In addition to the musical part of the program, a student group led by Lana Lekovic, with its dance moves, contributed to the beauty of this event, while Davor’s colleagues from Judo club "Fighter", led by Danilo Maras, demonstrated the key movements of this combat sport. All present, both students and associates at the University, made a contribution, according to their abilities. 

All present were welcomed by the rector of the University of Donja Gorica, prof.  Veselin Vukotic, PhD, who, in his address, among other things, pointed out: “I feel the weight and pride. The weight - because of the reason we had gathered for, and pride - because of the humanity of students and staff at UDG.” In the name of the University, rector donated to Davor the amount of 2,000.00 euros.

Also, Davor welcomed his colleagues and thanked them for help, and then he pointed out that he must be strong, he must believe in himself and he must hope that it will soon come a day when he will come out from the ring, in which he leads the fight to get back on his feet, as the winner. After that, Davor thanked the Rector, and all his colleagues and professors who give him their full support and who are constantly with him.

 The students used the opportunity to invite all people of good will, as well as companies, to participate in charity initiative that lasts a few days more and to help Davor Vukovic to stand on his feet again.
